New Leaders Council

Move #NLCforward

Supporting New Leaders Council Tallahassee means supporting the NLC Institute which invests in professional skills and personal vision for a new class of remarkable leaders each spring. Your support provides the funds needed to execute unparalleled training that prepares young leaders to seek new approaches to the complex challenges facing our community. At the end of each NLC Institute, fellows present a capstone proposal for a new business venture, social program, issue campaign, or some other ambitious plan to put directly to work the skills and connections gained through New Leaders Council.

Fellows Class III brought to NLC Tallahassee deep passion for issues closely tied to their personal and professional experiences. The vision of these fellows is inspiring. Here is a selection of just three of the great ideas that Class III is about to bring to Tallahassee and the communities around the world.

Haymanot Belda - In 2009, I founded an elementary school in Ethiopia with my family. The nearest middle school is 30 miles away, leaving current students without an opportunity to learn as they grow. To achieve my Capstone,
I will incorporate the school as a 501(c)(3) and expand to provide middle school education. The NLC Institute prepared me to act decisively to meet the needs of communities. Kruti Patel - My grandfather inspired me to improve the quality of life for individuals living with neuro-degenerative diseases. I designed a program allowing youth to “adopt” a person with neurodegenerative disease. I will collaborate with local universities and high schools to sustain youth involvement. New Leaders Council prepared me to plan for sustainability from the earliest stages of design. Alexis Simoneau - The NLC Institute empowered me to help association management professionals perform more effectively in their current roles. I will establish the Institute for Industry Innovation using a learning community model. Students will participate in monthly workshops to share best practices and ideas, create accountability, and educate one another on industry trends.

What passions and insights will the next class of fellows hold to build a better tomorrow? What kind of initiatives will Class IV design? What can we build in Tallahassee and elsewhere over the next ten years? These capstones and the careers of the young leaders who dream them are your #NLClegacy. Applications for the 2017 NLC Institute open June 1, and we need to be ready. Help us connect you to the 2017 Fellows Class and beyond.
